Job Vacancies

Why all the sudden job vacancies for social workers?

There are like 80 social worker type job vacancies in the Exeter/Plymouth area that I've been looking up in online job searches. Why? During this credit crunch and all? Anyone have insider knowledge on this? Follow-up question, then: with the high turnaround, would employers be willing to hire people with interest and related education, but not an actual social work degree or diploma?

  1. think about it logically, with so many unemployed more people will be needed to deal with the after effects
  2. Have a look in the Guardian alway vacancies for social workers teachers etc receesion proof..
  3. Big shake up coming all round. Thy don't want to get found out for not doing what they should have. Like London? Get out well the going is good.
  4. Cookie-9 makes a very valid observation also there are always lots of vacancies. There is a high turn over in most areas for some fairly obvious reasons and a lot of authorities employ social workers on short temporary contracts or from agencies.
  5. Healthcare sector is the ONLY sector in the UK not to have been hit by the whole credit crunch thing and hence they're making the most of the growth in their market
  6. It is quite simple high stress job with many many case files to deal with. Many people burn out after doing social work because the stress of the job is very high especially if you are involved in child apprehensions.Always openings in social work .
