Job Vacancies

How to ask about job vacancies?

I am 16 and about to start college in September. I am going into my local town centre on Tuesday to ask various shops if they have any vacancies for the 6 weeks holidays full time , then if I could switch and work just weekends whilst I am at college. How do I ask them without sounding rude or cheeky, particularly whilst asking if I can work full time then switch to just a Saturday job? I have printed off some CVs I have made, is there anything else I need? Thanks very much for any help.

  1. Go to Connexions at www.connexions.com
  2. I think if I was you I would write a letter. I have a habit of getting flustered and forgetting what I want to say! I find if I write a letter I can compose my thoughts and make them sound a bit more professional. If that is not your thing then just explain your situation, that your going to college and looking for part time work to help you with a little extra cash. I think as long as your honest with them and explain from the start your situation then you wont sound cheeky. Be presentable and dress smart. Good luck!
  3. gis a job... i can do that.... No ... just be smartly dressed and be polite. just ask to speek to the boss. and just say are there or will there be any vacancies.
  4. you could also go on www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk as they have alot of vacancies on there. there are alot of job vacancy sites that you could try. when going out, just go into the shop and say can i hand in a c.v please, and leave it as that. they will read through yourc.v and if they are interested in you they will call you in for an interview. thats when you tell them about college and everything else you wish to discuss. hope this helped x
